Where to begin? Well at the very beginning of course!
I’m James Tucker, the third generation of my family with a passion for racing. I eagerly began my racing career in karts, aged eight. Progressing through the karting ranks, taking race wins and championships regularly, becoming the youngest ever winner of the MSA Superkart Grand Prix, 250 Masters Champion, youngest ever winner of a MSA championship round and 7 lap records.
From the podiums of the Karting World I moved onto car racing, competing in many UK championships from classic cars, to Atoms and Stock Cars, and of course the obligatory racing down the stairs! If it’s competitive I’m there!
Upon being asked to coach a driver and set up/maintain their vehicle, and seeing first hand the level of set up and preparation that went into a successful race team I was hooked and Tucker Motorsport was established (I take full credit for the creative name). Over the last five years we have developed and expanded to offer a range of products and services:
- Driver Coaching – We have extensive experience at circuits throughout the UK and Europe. Holding a full ARDs Grade A license enables me to coach at all levels from the passenger seat on test and track days.
- Vehicle Set Up & Maintenance – Confession time, I’m a set up nerd! You’ll often find me in the evenings researching mind bending suspension algorithms, I’m passionate about correct and effective vehicle set-up, which allows Tucker Motorsport regular podium visits.
- Vehicle Hire – We have several of our own vehicles, which are fully maintained and step up, suitable for varied classes of motorsport.
- Upgraded Parts – Our dedication to vehicle set up has enabled us to identify key parts of vehicles which are prone to failure and deterioration. Our engineering knowledge has allowed us to create upgraded and race ready parts that are built to last.
Our vehicle expertise has seen us focus mainly on the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship, which offers competitive racing on an entry level budget. Alongside the maintenance, prep and support of multiple vehicles, we now own a Mazda MX-5 Mark 3 which is suitable for use in multiple club racing championships, alongside our Lotus Elise Series 2 which has completed most of its racing career in the endurance forum.
So what are we all about? Honestly it’s as simple as helping you to get the most from motorsport. Whether that’s with a well engineered set of top mounts to fit to your pride and joy, getting the most from a track day, or an arrive and drive racing packaging, that’s what we’re all about!
